My class is on a break for two weeks due to my instructor graduating from a local college. After the last class my instructor told us to get many, many photos during our two week break and bring photos into class during the next session.
Since the weather finally picked up, and the weekend was filled with getting stuff done around the house I decided to take my little 3 year old to the park to relax a little and see what kind of photos I could get of him playing at the park. The sky was blue, and although there wasn't much green my little guy was in simple colors (that of course were bright!), such as yellow, green, and blue. The green accents in his shirt also helped match some of the park's equipment (trust me, the yellow and green wasn't staged that was just his outfit for the day).
This picture was great, I caputred him as he was climbing down a part of the playground. Totally candid, but I loved the look of the bars and all the shapes around him.
Again, another picture of him climbing on the playground. I loved the background with the trees and the baseball field in the back. My little guy is a total ham for the camera, anytime I pulled out the camera he smiled and posed for me!
This picture was my absolute favorites of the park photoshoot. I felt like I captured a child's pure joy! The shadow totally adding to the photo. I also liked how the yellow in his shirt totally popped out with the somewhat green grass and the happiness of a child. It was simple, but it helped with all these photos.
After our time spent at the park (getting the pictures didn't take long, getting my little guy to leave the park took longer) we decided to go and visit my Grandfather. More reasons to pull out the camera.
My grandmother always had a piano in her house while I was growing up. It was great to get a snapshot of Ev playing the same piano. The pictures placed on the piano seemed to add a nice family touch to get pictures of the generations. They were previously placed there, but....after taking the photos you see how nice they add to family generations. I also fell in love with how he looks like he is concentrating so hard on getting the right notes!
This picture I have gotten so many compliments on. When I got home I automatically thought that this picture would be a WONDERFUL black and white. I would love to get this picture framed and put on the wall. The black and white adds a nice touch, and like many of my fans have liked....you can see his great-grandfather sitting in the background, the keys of the piano, and just an overall classic picture.
I definatley enjoyed the photo-shoot. It was great because it was decided on a whim, and we just happened to have nice weather. There is so much you can do with photography outside as well as inside.
Along with all my photos I've been taking, outside of class I have been reading photography books. I have been reading 'Digital Cameras and Photography for Dummies' with a 2 hour DVD accompanied by the book as well as a bargain book from Barnes and Noble. I also have recently read 'The Joy of Digital Photography' AND 'The New Joy of Digital Photography'.
I've also been realizing, another fun event to be photographed would be Prom. How awesome is that? Everyone is dressed up, you can have couples as well as good friends get together. So many of the dresses are beautiful, some of them similar to bridal gowns. Just an idea.
Also, I am up for doing a Portrait Party! If anyone is interested, contact me at TheSunshinePhotography@gmail.com.

I then tried a vertical view of his piano playing skills. I love how you can see his reflection in the piano, and his great-grandfather in the background.
