With Valentine's Day Quickly approaching, the thought of couple photography is a happy occasion for me.  Two years ago I was dating my boyfriend, and happily on New Years Eve he decided to pop the question.....'Will you marry me?!?', as the ball on time square was quickly following.  It was an exciting time in my life, as well as a time I won't soon forget (as would any couple).  It was such a romantic experience for the both of us, that is why I always run holiday photo sessions until AFTER new years eve because of when my proposal happened.
Why might you ask, would that introduce me to my Valentine's Day Special for couples of all status? (ex: married, engaged, dating)
Let me explain:  After the exciting proposal on New Years Eve my now, husband and I, went to our minister at the time and was happy to share the news.  We were excited and anxious to get married.  I had always wanted a spring wedding, but because of unforeseen circumstances it just would not happen.  The pastor suggested to us that because he was able to see our deep  love for each other that 'why not get married on a day proclaimed around the world of sharing love?", and although I was never one to get married the day a lot of couples would get married, I didn't mind opting for something special.  I found a hot pink dress (who could resist on Valentine's Day?!?) and we planned an intimate ceremony with our families (we planned a bigger reception later...which is why I also offer 'vow renewal ceremony pictures') and we celebrated Valentine's Day our way.  Although we didn't have the big Princess wedding that everyone sees on TV and the movies, it was a nice in-between of the justice of the peace and an actual wedding ceremony.

I know how special Valentine's Day could be in a couples life, and I know what a special day it is.

I remember going to a local picture studio for our engagement pictures.  We made our appointment and arrived on time (we went because we had a coupon), and when we went into the studio we stood there like statues and the photographer of the studio said to us, 'okay, what do you want to do?', my fiance (at the time) and I looked at each other puzzled.  I didn't know any personal photographers at the time, but the photographer had us do about 3 poses tops.  There wasn't much creativity behind the lens, as well as there was little communication between the photographer and us.  It was a sad experience, but now it has been a great learning experience.
During this January we have had more warm weather than expected and it is the perfect opportunity to get outdoors and go for a walk with the one you love.  As your personal photographer, I strive to get you amazing pictures in the short amount of time.  I do more than say 'what do you want to do?', I try to learn about you and whomever I'm doing pictures for.  I recently took my daughter for a walk, and the trees were great places to pose as well as walking paths offer a great place where you guys as couples could be alone, and when your not watching get some awesome candid shots!  Would my engagement pictures had a different experience if we were allowed to be ourselves? MOST DEFINITELY!

Why you need a Photographer at your next party...

This weekend was a fabulous weekend to pull out the cameras and get excited about photography.  There were so many photogenic opportunities as well as reasons to pull out the camera just because.

Over the 4th of July weekend I did quite a few things.  For starters I celebrated my daughters first birthday, which of course included a party!  Following that there were quite a few thunderstorms which was even more of a reason to pull out the camera (the lightening is just awesome if you can manage to get a few photos on your camera), and then of course we had the actual 4th of July holiday which included fireworks (another famous photographer favorite) as well as the annual 4th of July parade.

Many people have asked me, "Why should I hire a photographer for my next party?  I can take pictures myself."

My answer is simply.  When you hosting a party, it is very hard to be everywhere at once.  Decorate, Food to make/set out, say 'hello' to all of the guests, make refills on the food if needed, and of course in the mist of all party planning you have to be there for the gifts as well as clean up the mess, set out the cake, cut the cake, and everything else.
Speaking from experience, I know it can be hard to carry the camera around with you to be there for all of those moments, plus get pictures of all of the guests.  I tried to carry a camera around, and it made it hard to catch everything I wanted to.  There was a few moments I didn't capture, thankfully since it was a first birthday party other people did.  Normally those special moments would not have happened...if it hadn't been for someone to spacifically take pictures.

Especially with the holiday, you don't want to miss out on those awesome moments where aunts and uncles are playing ball with the kids and so forth.

Another great opportunity for pictures over the holiday was at the parade..everyone was dressed in matching shirts and everyone was in a happy mood...

I have many pictures taken..I hope to post some soon!!!

Always remember, have DLWM Photography apart of your next party to help keep some memories around for a lifetime!

How can hiring a Photographer (other than for a wedding) help you in your day to day life???

Over the last few weeks, I have been proposed the question, 'How can a Photographer help you in your day to day life?'.

A Photographer can help a person in their everyday life for a few simple reasons.

Firstly, the photographer can grow as your life changes.  For example, you can have the same photographer work with you for your senior pictures, then a few years later take pictures for an engagement (unless of course you would like to do a  photo session as a solo or aka 'inspirational session' or 'couple session'), then follow up for the wedding and then probably a few years later you will be available to help with baby photos.  From my experience being a parent, you want those times treasured.

How else can a photographer help me, other than just for 'family moments'?

I've questioned myself this many times..but as I have developed as a photographer, and thru the many books I've read you can hire a photographer for anything you  may need.

For example, now that summer has officially approached us I have found that many people in the area have put their houses up for sale 'For Sale by Owner'.  Since I"m sure they don't have internet connections to sites dealing with realty , I"m sure that they need pictures of their house done for advertising their homes.  As well as to give guests to take home who are shopping for homes.

Another thing you may need a photographer for is if you would like to be a model...obvious why, you need MANY pictures for your profile, as I"m sure everyone knows.

Now onto my favorite opportunity...upcoming chef's, or just home cooks.  From watching one of my favorite channels 'The Food Network', many people want pictures of their signature dishes.  Whether it be for a family recipe book, trying to enhance their cooking experience, as well as trying to become a chef.  They always need pictures of the food they cook.

Why not hire someone with a professional camera to get those picture needs?

I have taken what I have learned in my 'Composition of Photography class' and applied it to everyday life.  I pull out my camera on every occasion, as well as work hard to find new settings and backgrounds as well as discover new lands for easy access photo sessions.  For example, tonight I found a great background!  I didn't have my camera on my phone or my real camera available (sorry...) but I plan on putting my idea into action within the next few days...

As always e-mail me at DLWMPhotography@gmail.com!

Let me help create memories for generations today!
