Fall Is NowUpon Us

Summer has quickly come to an end, and Autumn is quickly coming and going!  As fast as I noticed the beautiful colors on the trees starting to change, I have seen so many of them now off the tree and preparing for winter.

I recently have participated in taking some landscape photos for some fun, and to enjoy the scenery.

One of  our local news studios does a 'Photolink' share every Friday night of pictures taken during the week from viewers.  Since my photography class in the Spring I have been avid to get a photo up on the weekly slide show.  I can gladly say that in the last month I have had 2 pictures selected by the news station to air on TV.

I've really been enjoying taking the photos, I have a fall session tomorrow!  I cannot wait...more pictures to come!  (including more fro this fall session shown above)

Summer Fun Photo Shoot!

At the end of Summer, a close friend asked me to take some pictures of her daughters.  The first time we planned a photo shoot it rained, so because of the location we scheduled a 'rain date'.  Had it been over the holiday season we would have chosen to take the pictures inside, but because of the season we chose to set a rain date due to wanting to be outside.

I was able to accomplish pictures of both girls by themselves, and then I did a few photos of them together.  I did a mix of some black and white and some colorful photos, as well as mix in a few props for each girl.

The first picture is the oldest daughter, our lovely Sierra.  I LOVED the patterns and how well they blended.  Because of the mid-day sun, as usual, a good prop is an umbrella.

A close up of Sierra

I loved the picture as well.  Sierra came right down to eye level to tell me a story w hen I snapped her beautiful picture!

This is Sophia, the youngest daughter.  She was vibrant and very excited to get her pictures taken!

This is my absolute favorite picture of Sophia!  I think the way she was looking down makes her look simply angelic. I did a black and white edit also, and I have to say as an unexpected capture, this turned out beautiful!

As the photo session moved forward, I had to think of ways to keep both girls occupied during the session.
Sophia wanted to go pick out a favorite toy, on her way back out of the house I snapped the picture!  How beautiful, and the background matches perfectly!
The sisters together....

These are just a few of the many photos I took during this photo-shoot.  I got many close-ups, black and white, and of course other favorites.  These are just the tip of the iceberg...

The photo shoot was very easy and A LOT of fun to do!  Defiantly a great way to end the summer...

Fall Foilage--fall photos!

The last few months at DLWM Photography has been very busy.  Last month I accomplished another photo shoot (photos coming soon!), as well as got another lens for my camera and worked on some landscape photos.  It has been quite busy...

With fall and the holiday's on the way I'm hoping to get another photo shoot in before winter sets in.  There are so many opportunities to get some fall foliage photos, as well as get some great family photos with a wonderful background. I've experienced in couple and children, I'm hoping to expand my photo skills and get some engagement and maternity, as well as hopefully finally be scheduled for a wedding ceremony.

I have constantly been reading and studying poses, as well as learning how to do some awesome photos.  Quite surprisingly, I've done a lot of photographs during the mid-day sun and as opposed to what you might read, I've successfully done some photos that came out beautifully!  I've learned to find my ways around it, and use the sun towards my advantage.  What more can I say?  the more practice I get the better the photos turn out.

I hope that you will welcome me to take some pictures for you.  I take them at a fair price, and you get a CD to take wherever you want to get developed.

Summertime Photo-shoot!

Summer has finally reached its peak and I have finally had an experience of taking pictures.

A friend of mine recently asked for me to get some pictures taken of her and her boyfriend, and children in their family.  I was very thrilled and excited and said 'YES' to the big opportunity!  I finally was able to capture some beautiful pictures other than just my family.

This is my good friend Amanda.  We have been friends since high school and she is now a co-worker of mine.

I absolutely LOVE this photograph!  I had been reading in my photography books that a white-umbrella would make for a good prop and help with back lighting (aka, the light behind the subject), as time was ticking down I was unable to obtain a white umbrella for this photo-shoot.  As it worked out, unplanned, my friend had decided to wear the same color purple as the umbrella I keep in my car!  How awesome is that???  I actually liked the purple so much better, it brings out so much more color in the dress and my friend.  I think if I had used a white umbrella the photograph would have had too much white.

These are another two pictures that I took...I LOVED the accent of the park bench and the trees in the background.

This is another picture I absolutely LOVE!  This is the wonderful couple together, and the smiles are just charming...
Another great pose from our beautiful couple!

I like to do some different-out-of-the-norm poses for my lucky couples.  Since Amanda and Jason aren't engaged yet, a nice change was to celebrate the love of each other  by using a gift given by Jason.  He bought her a bracelet she had wanted for quite some time so I told her to wear the bracelet to her photo-shoot.  How much more romantic can you get than getting a picture of him putting on the bracelet around her wrist???  The expressions say it all!
Had to get a side view of the bracelet pose!
This is by far my favorite  picture!  By this point the couple was very relaxed in front of the camera and this expression says it all!  Amanda and Jason were great models!  Of course the heart necklace helps accent everything as well.

Had to end the photo-shoot with a kiss!

This photo-shoot was a lot of fun and the weather was perfect!  We went to a nearby park, and all together it took about 3 hours to get done.

There were 5 other children involved.  Each child got thier picture taken single, and with each other.  They posed on the swings as well as other playground equipment (and what more fun is that for a kid???) Each child posed with Amanda and Jason alone and in groups of two.  They also did some poses with my wonderful couple...

So far I have found a couple photo shoot to last about 1.5 or 2 hours long.  Poses are very simple to come up with as well as a lot of fun to do.

Summer in full swing!!

Summer is quickly passing by, I can hardly believe that we are almost halfway through July and will soon be into August.  Back to school shopping, labor day weekend, and the start of the beautiful fall season (yikes!)

I recently have been getting into some more serious work as far as my photography goes.  I was very fortunate to be the lucky photographer at my sister-in-law's one year anniversary party, and to top it off I was able to do some basic couple photography with the lovely couple.  (waiting for some model release signatures before I post some pictures...)

Since then a good friend of mine is in need of some family and couple portraits.  When she found out about my sister-in-law and saw her photo's online she was thrilled with the idea at getting her photos done on a budget and in a timely fashion.  I am so excited to have another photo shoot, not only will I be photographing her and her wonderful boyfriend but I will also be photographing her family and children.

I still am avidly furnishing my skills as your personal photographer.  I have just completed a book on 'People Photography', and a book on "How to Photograph Children".

Here is an update of some recent work of mine:

More pictures still to come...but it's been a busy few weeks at DLWM Photography!

Why you need a Photographer at your next party...

This weekend was a fabulous weekend to pull out the cameras and get excited about photography.  There were so many photogenic opportunities as well as reasons to pull out the camera just because.

Over the 4th of July weekend I did quite a few things.  For starters I celebrated my daughters first birthday, which of course included a party!  Following that there were quite a few thunderstorms which was even more of a reason to pull out the camera (the lightening is just awesome if you can manage to get a few photos on your camera), and then of course we had the actual 4th of July holiday which included fireworks (another famous photographer favorite) as well as the annual 4th of July parade.

Many people have asked me, "Why should I hire a photographer for my next party?  I can take pictures myself."

My answer is simply.  When you hosting a party, it is very hard to be everywhere at once.  Decorate, Food to make/set out, say 'hello' to all of the guests, make refills on the food if needed, and of course in the mist of all party planning you have to be there for the gifts as well as clean up the mess, set out the cake, cut the cake, and everything else.
Speaking from experience, I know it can be hard to carry the camera around with you to be there for all of those moments, plus get pictures of all of the guests.  I tried to carry a camera around, and it made it hard to catch everything I wanted to.  There was a few moments I didn't capture, thankfully since it was a first birthday party other people did.  Normally those special moments would not have happened...if it hadn't been for someone to spacifically take pictures.

Especially with the holiday, you don't want to miss out on those awesome moments where aunts and uncles are playing ball with the kids and so forth.

Another great opportunity for pictures over the holiday was at the parade..everyone was dressed in matching shirts and everyone was in a happy mood...

I have many pictures taken..I hope to post some soon!!!

Always remember, have DLWM Photography apart of your next party to help keep some memories around for a lifetime!
